Munich, 07 November 2022 - Munich based FERNRIDE is tirelessly working on automating the logistics industry. FERNRIDE recently added to the team Alexandre Haag as an advisory board member and Ciaran Murphy as VP of Engineering. With a growing team of international industry experts from transportation, IT, artificial intelligence, and mobility engineering, FERNRIDE unites all key assets under one roof.
The company is dedicated to being the leading player in automated logistics. It is thus attracting people who share this passion. After Thomas Bock and Martin Isik joined Fernride as COO and CCO/CFO respectively in May 2022, FERNRIDE now further grows their senior talent by acquiring two very highly respected and experienced people from the autonomous driving industries.
FERNRIDE’s strategy – gradual autonomy with a teleoperation-first approach – enables the company to deliver the future of transportation already today. Customers such as VW, DB Schenker and B/S/H are in the company’s customer portfolio. This strategy helped the company win Alexandre Haag as an investor and board advisor in October. As one of the top European experts in autonomous driving, Alexandre Haag will invest time and funds to support Fernride on the road to further developing the company's vision. Prior to that, he has been an integral part of Argo, Zoox, and Tesla – three of the leading companies in autonomous vehicles worldwide.
“I’ve been very impressed by how FERNRIDE has combined an ambitious vision of carbon free autonomous logistics with a credible incremental roadmap to get there. I’m therefore very excited to join Fernride’s advisory board and modestly contribute to their success”, says Haag.
Ciaran Murphy joined Fernride in September 2022 as VP of Engineering. Before that he held multiple senior roles at Intel/Mobileye, AID GmbH, and Argo AI. Murphy’s engineering expertise and passion for future technologies are of great value to Fernride’s vision of a world with autonomous transportation and better working conditions for drivers. He will drive the end to end development of FERNRIDE's technology stack.
"What gets me so excited about FERNRIDE is the technically feasible, highly pragmatic product roadmap, that perfectly blends teleoperations with autonomy. My experience developing Level 4 Robotaxi products over the last years has proven to me that technical feasibility is crucial for time-to-market for an autonomy based business. Plus the team is amazing! Over the last 5 to 10 years, Munich has emerged as a globally leading center for AI based robotics and the steady flow of incredible engineering talent into the company is certainly proof of this", says Murphy.
After FERNRIDE’s founding, the team has been growing fast. It has been attracting industry professionals who believe in the massive change needed to revolutionize the logistics sector today instead of waiting for full autonomy instead.
“The logistics sector is facing some tough challenges. In the EU alone, the logistics industry is currently lacking over 400,000 drivers, and 39% of the EU wide greenhouse gas emissions are due to transportation. With the impending shortage and a tremendous need for more sustainable logistics in a highly developed and globalized world, FERNRIDE is addressing the industry's challenges by offering the solution today”, says Hendrik Krammer, the CEO and co-founder of FERNRIDE.
The FERNRIDE Team is thrilled to welcome Alex Haag and Ciaran Murphy aboard.
